The weather finally cooperated for a day to enable the East Central College softball team, now 10-2, to take out the Southwestern Illinois Blue Storm in a double header with identical 5-3 victories. A blustery wind kept the ball in the park as the Falcons made the most of combing their hits. Marissa Boyd started the scoring off in the first game by hitting a 2 RBI double in the first inning. Teammate, Kori Fiedler, knocked in another run on a sacrifice fly to lift ECC to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Jensen Crenshaw and Ashley Miller added one RBI each in the 4th and 5th innings respectively. Megan Micke and Boyd both had two hits in the game. Miller was excellent from the circle as she collected five strikeouts and held SWIC to three runs.

The second game was more of a back and forth affair. ECC gave up two runs in the first inning and trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the 4th. Alayna Abney began the rally off as she drove in the first run to make it 2-1. Megan Micke had a monster second game as she went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI and 2 doubles.

The Falcons were allowing SWIC numerous base runners through walks. The creative defensive play of Abney kept SWIC in check as she turned two double plays in the same fashion of tagging the runner coming from first base to second and throwing out the batter at first. One of her double plays with bases loaded in the 6th inning definitely saved runs. Shelby Carr recorded her second collegiate win pitching for the Falcons, as she faced 34 batters and only gave up five hits.
