The second game of a double header against Moberly Area CC was a tightly contested one as the ECC Falcons won 2-1 by grinding out runs and playing stellar defense. The Falcons didn’t fair as well in the first game falling 7-0. Facing tough pitching throughout the day, ECC didn’t muster many hits at the plate.
Winning game two was led by the pitching of Kylie McDaniel holding the Greyhounds to one run and getting out of jams throughout the game. Lexi Filkins made three incredible diving catches in right field to keep the Greyhounds from scoring a number of runs.
As runners were on base in the fifth inning, Alexa Smalling put the pressure on the defense by hitting into the defense and forcing an error and reaching base. This play scored the game winning run for the Falcons.
As ECC faces the tough competition throughout the next two weeks, it will be tell tale sign for the Falcons going into the post season.
