ECC Women’s Soccer (4-5) has set a school record half way through the season by hunting down the Metropolitan Community College Kansas City in a 3-2 victory at home. MCCKC struck first with an ECC defensive let down to go up 1-0 early in the match. Then the Falcons found the back of the net in the 37th minute on a goal by Isabella Tiepelman assisted by Landry Watson. ECC entered the half with the score notched at 1-1.

The second half had the Falcons attempt their second shot on goal and Maria McSherry lofted a long shot over the Wolves’ keeper to put ECC up 2-1. Landry Watson wasn’t finished adding to the score line as she tucked in an Emma Cloud corner kick in the 80th minute. A 3-1 lead appeared to secure the win, but the Wolves answered with a goal of their own in the next minute to make it a one goal game at 3-2. As the defense and goalkeeper Shelby Keleman held on for the win, history was in the making with the fourth win of the season. Improved play by the women’s team will definitely add to this record breaking season.
