ECC Women’s Soccer (2-5-1) was able to put together a complete victory over the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils on Sunday with a 1-0 win. The Falcons outplayed Kaskaskia with a 65% possession rate over the Blue Devils and it showed with the amount of corners and chances the Falcons had. It was a very windy game, but that didn’t rattle ECC goalkeeper Gabrielle Mattli, who had to make one extremely tough save in the air with a blustery wind moving the ball all over the place. Mattli also thwarted a breakaway as she came out with perfect timing to force the Kaskaskia attacker to shoot wide.

Maria McSherry netted the game winner as she pounced on a cross from Hayle Kromer that bounced off a defender. McSherry found the back of the net at 19:40 which proved to the game winner and only goal of the contest.

The clean sheet was a product of overall team defense. Kacey Watson, Bella Finnegan, Rebekah Lewis and Holly New played fantastic, flawless defense in front of Mattli.
