The ECC Baseball Falcons (14-7) found gold at the end of the rainbow with some 7th inning magic for a 9-8 walk-off winner over North Arkansas in the second game of a St. Patrick’s weekend series. ECC won the first game 7-3, but it was the second game comeback that put the exclamation point on the day. A DeVon Jennings two-run homer sealed the deal for the Falcons. Jose Alfonso started off the 7th inning with a towering infield pop fly double to reach base.

Early in first inning, the Falcons were up 1-0 on a Josh McClintock homer and then found a quick turn around on the scoreboard in the Pioneers favor. ECC was down 8-2 after four innings and then the bats came alive to start the rally. The Falcons scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to get within striking distance at 8-6. One run in the 6th helped cut the lead to 8-7, but a crucial run was stranded at 3rd base after a Pioneer double play. The Falcons hit well in the game with Alfonso, McClintock and Jennings all getting two hits. Nick Hooper had a big game at the plate going 3 for 3 and collecting two RBIs.

Adam DeBoer, Starling. Beverding and Anthony Broeker all pitched in the game. Broeker earned the win with a superb performance going 3.1 innings giving up no runs to end the game.

The first game was highlighted with Jennings going 3 for 3 with a solo home run. Jennings and Alfonso both drove in two runs. Jackson Kirn had two hits and one RBI.

Cole Evans looked good going 5 2/3 innings with 6 strikeouts earning the victory. Ayden Gates and Mason Snyder closed the game in relief for the Falcons.
