ECC Softball (8-5) elevated their game in the second game of a double header against the Southwestern Illinois Blue Storm to win 12-4 after falling 7-0 in the first. The Falcons couldn’t muster hits in the first game, but the bats took after the forecast and got hot in the second game.

Down 1-0 after the first inning, ECC didn’t look back after the the rally started. Lexi Lewis started the scoring in the first inning as she reached base on a walk, stole second and the stole third and was driven in on a sacrifice fly to tie the game up at 1-1. Ryleigh Long added to the score as she had an RBI double to lift the Falcons to a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first.

Homers started flying out of the park as Payton Robinson hit a solo homer in the 2nd and Ryleigh Long dented the scoreboard on her homer in the 3rd to make the score 4-1.

Alexa Smalling drove in another run in the 4th to make the game 6-4 as the Blue Storm were trying to make a comeback that was squashed. In the 5th, Kylie McDaniel put the game out of reach with a 2 RBI triple.

As the Falcons followed up with good defense behind the pitching of Kylie McDaniel, who earned her 4th win on the season, the floodgates started to open. The Falcons traded places with runners on base as Ryleigh Long, Payton Robinson, Sam Kowzlowski and Kylie McDaniel all drove in runs to run rule the game with a 12-4 score in the bottom of the 6th inning.
