As the ground thaws and warmer air heats up the diamond, the Falcons will be ready to return to their winning ways.  Coach Brad Wallach has the team working extremely hard to reach their goals in the classroom, on the playing field and in the weight room.

Coach Wallach has three returning sophomores from last year’s roster. A nucleus of talented sophomores who are dedicated to the team will lead with good play from an offensive and defensive standpoint.  Coach Wallach hopes to combine his largest incoming freshman class of ten players with the sophomores to create the winning chemistry needed to rally to win the NJCAA Region 16 DII Championship. The Falcons have won four out the past five years and look to take down defending NJCAA Region 16 Champions Mineral Area College.

The Falcons will be roosting at home for the first few weeks of the season with double headers against Central Methodist JV, Lewis & Clark, Missouri Valley JV, Lindenwood-Belleville JV, Culver Stockton JV and Ellsworth (Iowa). Last year the Falcons faced a number of top level teams and finished with a season record of 28-22. As Region 16 and MCCAC play begins, the Falcons will face familiar foes in Jefferson, Mineral Area, St. Charles, St. Louis, Three Rivers along with a new MCCAC opponent in State Fair Community College.

A strong season filled with NJCAA Division I opponents in regular season games and tournaments will have the Falcons prepared for the NJCAA Region 16 DII Tournament at the end of the season. The region tournament will be held April 28 & 29, 2017 in Nevada, Missouri hosted by Cottey College.  Tournament participants include Cottey College, St. Louis Community College and Mineral Area College along with ECC.

Coach Wallach knows an improved defense will help the Falcons in every game. A reduction in errors in the infield will help elevate the team in close games. Along with returning sophomores, a group of talented freshmen will be turning heads with solid defensive play as witnessed in the fall exhibition season.
