Climbing the ladder and stepping up to play, the ECC Falcons (7-4-1) were able to beat the State Fair Community College Roadrunners in convincing fashion 5-1. The scoring started early in the 12th minute and was led by a goal from number 12 Jacob Wipke. Wipke didn’t waste any time adding his name to the score sheet as he turned around and assisted Tyler Finder on a nice slot ball to elevate the Falcons to a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute. The Roadrunners scored on their first shot on goal with a head ball corner to make it 2-1, but that is all they could muster.

ECC came out firing and scored in the 58th minute to ice the game on a hard-working goal by James Harrison who beat two players like a pinball to pop in the third goal making it 3-1. This sealed the deal for the Falcons and ECC was cruising to a victory after a nice corner by Jule Denommee connected with Micheal Holliday’s head for a laser shot into the upper 90.  The highlight of the game came when Mauricio Suarez beat two defenders to enter the top of the penalty box and dished a slot ball to Teddy Pinjisi who absolutely buried a curling shot over the State Fair keeper. Pinjisi was so excited he took off his shoe and acted like he was playing with a toy car driving around in circles.

The Falcons face St. Louis Community College in a crucial match-up with conference and region implications on Saturday, Sept. 30.
