If you don’t know what a Gorlok is, you are not alone. I don’t think the ECC Falcons cared much either as they knocked off the Webster University Gorloks in straight sets 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 at the corner of Gore and Lockwood in Webster Groves, MO yesterday. (Hint: Two street names combined in a whimsical way is the origin of the mythical mascot of a Gorlok).

As the ECC Falcons (18-7) put up good numbers in all categories some of the players had big match stats. Abby Cowell continued her big numbers with 13 kills in the 3-set affair. Emma Coburn was able to knock down kills as well with 8 and Rayne Van Reed collected 6.  The offense was humming with the fine-tuned assists from Katie Myers and Jaidyn Collins, each collecting double digit helpers.

On the defensive side, another big performance from Lexi Filkins was joined by Alyssa Bruce who had 19 and 13 digs respectively. Filkins continues to lead NJCAA Region 16 in digs and digs per set. She is ranked #10 nationally with her 534 digs on the season.

This match was a tune up for the rest of the week as ECC will face their two NJCAA Region 16 rivals St. Louis Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 PM and Metropolitan Community College Kansas City on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 10:00 AM both at home.

Lexi Filkins, Current NJCAA DII #10 for digs, Region 16 #1 for digs with 534 and #1 in digs per set with 6.07
