The ECC Softball Falcons went down fighting in the NJCAA Region 16 DII Softball Tournament. The Falcons lost 4-2 in the first round to the #1 seed and eventual champions, St. Louis Community College 4-2. They came out roaring in the second game and knocked out Mineral Area College by a score of 9-7.

A fight to the finish had ECC down 5-1 in the top of the 7th inning against Moberly Area in the semifinal game of the tournament. Alexa Smalling had a runner on base and she sent a shot to the outfield fence but was caught by a Greyhound outfielder with her back against the fence. Sophomore Payton Robinson was the next batter up in the line up and she sent another shot to dead center and the MACC outfielder grabbed it at the warning track. The Falcons fell 5-1 and ended the season with some heroics.

The Falcons finished the season and Lexi Lewis was named 1st Team All-Region for her performance throughout the year. Lewis became the all-time single season and career base stealer in ECC softball history with 55 bags swiped on the year. She eclipsed the former record single season and career holder Kiersten Monzyk with 46 in 2015.  Monzyk had 54 stolen bases for a career and Lewis bettered that with 68 total stolen bases.

Highlights on the season included comeback wins over Lewis & Clark, Frontier and Mineral Area. ECC knocked out 20 home runs on the season and had one of the best seasons on record for team stolen bases with 78, only in 2015 did the Falcons have a better record with 81 total stolen bases.
