The East Central College Falcon volleyball team (8-5) was able to make a statement Friday night against the St. Louis Community College Archers by winning their second NJCAA Region 16 match this week. ECC was coming off the most dramatic win of the season by beating Metropolitan Community College Kansas at home in a fifth set tiebreaker by an extremely close margin. Then the Falcons took to the road to down the Archers in four sets winning by scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23.
Every win in the region is big, but this one sealed the #1 seed in the NJCAA Region 16 DII Volleyball Tournament being hosted at MCCKC at the Longview campus on March 26 & 27. At this point in time, no spectators are allowed at the tournament. Hopefully, streaming options will be available. The Falcons will face the winner of St. Louis Community College and Metropolitan Community College Kansas City in the final match being held on Saturday, March 27 at 11:00AM. The winner of the final will face the NJCAA Region 11 Runner-up on April 3 in district play with a birth to the NJCAA National Tournament at stake. This year’s NJCAA Tournament will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
