A double header sweep over the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds has East Central College (24-13) living the good life in the win column with after 2-1 and 12-11 triumphs.
It was a pitcher’s duel in the first game and Billy Underwood prevailed getting the win for the Falcons going 5 and 1/3 innings striking out five batters. Drew Davis got the save in relief has he only allowed one run in preserving the win for the Falcons.
Josh McClintock had two hits in the low scoring affair along with an RBI. Devon Jennings had the other RBI and that is all the Falcons needed to overcome the Greyhounds.
The second matchup of the day and fourth game in a row was a heavy load for the pitching staffs of both teams. A big win was highlighted by Jackson Kirn going 5-5. He collected three RBIs on his three singles, a double and a triple. DeVon Jennings also had a big day going 4 for 4 with two RBIs. The hot bats continued with the trio of Adam Hanan, Landen Roberts and Matis Crouwel collecting two hits and two RBIs each.
ECC was trailing most of the game and found themselves trailing 5-0 after the top of the first inning. As the game progressed ECC found ways to score and keep getting themselves back into the game. Down 11-10 in the bottom of the sixth inning after leading briefly, the comeback was on. ECC tied the score 11-11 and then Aiden Gaither delivered with a single to elevate the Falcons to a 12-11 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning which was the game wining run.
The Falcons went through a platoon of pitchers with Jack Meyer getting the start and Anthony Broeker and Keagon Lawlor facing batters later in the game as well. Joey Reichmuth came in the last two innings and earned the win for ECC.
