The ECC Women’s Soccer Volleyball Falcons (1-0) kicked off the season at home with a 4-1 come from behind victory over the John Wood Community College Trailblazers. A statement was made in the first minute of play, when the Falcons rattled the hardware pinging a hard shot off the post. The Falcons dominated the first half, but found themselves trailing 1-0 at the break.

Kacey Watson opened up the scoring in the second half to tie the game as she made a dazzling run through the entire John Wood squad dribbling half the length of the field to score in the 54th minute. Abby Layton knocked in the next goal on a pass from Elexis Wohlgemuth to become the eventual game winner in the 71st minute. The Falcons were able to muster two more goals as Chenai Lefebvre scored and Gretchen Overman hit a bomb from outside to put ECC up 4-1.

The defense played well in front of Gabbi Mattli in goal, giving up only 7 shots in the match. Sommer Schneider, Holly New and Kacey Watson held out the opposition most of the match on the defensive side of the ball.
