The ECC Falcons (10-4) were able to claw their way back from a deficit in the match against Southwestern Illinois College to win in dramatic fashion. ECC lost the first set 25-18 and then put their nose to the grindstone to win some gritty sets 25-22, 25-22, 25-23. Each point was crucial. Lexi Filkins and Jaidyn Collins led the Falcons defensively in the digs category. Abby Cowell, Brenna Moore and Bailee Lutrell had big numbers in the kills category.
Coach Lisa Mathes-Peters was pleased with the team’s effort and resiliency in the tight contest. The Falcons will be able to use this match as tune-up heading into the weekend as ECC faces rival Metropolitan Community College Kansas on Saturday for the first match up of the season.
