The ECC Volleyball Falcons (20-8) were able to reach the 20-victory plateau in the regular season by humbling the Shawnee Community College Saints in straight sets 25-18, 25-22, 25-23. A whole team effort had kills coming from a flock of Falcons. Using a deep line-up, the Falcons came home with the win and accomplished a team high 20 wins for the first time since 2016.
Abby Cowell led the way with 9 kills and Rayne Van Reed was right behind her with 8 kills. Peyton Yarbrough joined the hit parade with 7 kills and Hali Naber was in the line-up and popped off 5 kills of her own.
Katie Myers and Jaidyn Collins were the catalysts in providing the assists for the Falcons as they both recorded 16 each in the match.
As the defense continues to play well the back row was anchored by a number of different individuals in this match. Abby Cowell had a surprising 22 digs and Lexi Filkins recorded 10. Emma Coburn and Katie Myers mopped up the floor as well registering 7 kills each.
The Falcons have two regular season matches remaining before they head into the post-season. ECC will face Missouri Baptist University JV at home on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10:00AM for ‘Sophomore Day” and then head to Missouri State University- West Plains next week for an MCCAC conference match.
