The East Central College Volleyball Falcons (4-0) couldn’t have started the season off much better after going 4-0 at the Southeastern Illinois Tournament in Harrisburg, IL. The Falcons were able to make quick work of the Shawnee Community College Saints in their first match taking three straight sets 25-17, 25-14, 25-11. ECC found their form quickly and sophomores, Emma Coburn and Brenna Moore led the charge in the first match with 7 and 5 kills respectively.

The second match against Wabash Valley went four sets and the Falcons prevailed with scores of 25-18, 25-17, 17- 25, and 25-21. Abby Cowell stepped up big in the match, as the freshman registered a team high 16 kills. Rayne Van Reed also had a good match thumping Wabash for 8 kills as well.  Katie Myers and Jaidyn Collins lit up the assists categories with Myers recording 19 and Collins with 10.

In the third match of the weekend, the Falcons made quick work of the Itawamba Indians with a three-set sweep by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-23. Abby Cowell was the big swing again with 13 kills in the match. Cowell along with Filkins collected 17 digs each on the defensive side of the court.

ECC took care of Frontier in the fifth set of the match 23-25, 27-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9.   Cowell led the Falcons with 7 kills and 28 digs. Lexi Filkins had 17 digs and Katie Myers had 16 digs.
