The East Central College Volleyball Falcons (22-10) were able to reach the NJCAA DII Region 16 final after beating St. Louis Community College 3-1 in sets but fell in the championship match 3-0 to Metropolitan Community College Kansas City, but with a very close score line of 22-25, 22-25, 21-25.

ECC will live on this week as they head to the NJCAA Central District tournament with an opportunity to extend their season. On Saturday, November 4, the Falcons will head to Illinois Central in East Peoria, Illinois to take on the #3 seed Heartland in a district semi-final match. The winner in the 4-team tournament has a direct path to the NJCAA National Tournament being held in Cedar Rapids, IA November 16-18 and the US Cellular Arena.

The Falcons clawed their was back in the semifinal match from a one set deficit to win three straights over the St. Louis Community College Archers with extremely close scores 21-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-14.

Abby Cowell led the way with kills in this match with 10, while Rayne Van Reed and Peyton Yarbrough both had 7 kills. Katie Myers led the way with digs in 13 and assists 18 in the match. Lexi Filkins had 12 digs and Abby Cowell had 10.

The Falcons had a good showing against MCCKC, but just couldn’t quite stop the attack of the Wolves and lost in straight sets.
