The ECC Volleyball Falcons jumped back up to the .500 mark with straight set match wins over Prairie State and Oakton on Saturday at the St. Louis Community College Tournament on the Meramec campus in Kirkwood, MO. The first match went well for the Falcons as they knocked off Oakton 25-19, 27-25, 25-12. Taking the second set in extra points deflated Oakton’s hopes of making a comeback and the Falcons finished off the match. Isabel Stowe and Peyton Yarbrough were the consistent hitters in the match as they knocked down 8 and 7 kills, respectively. Brook Leesmann set up the attack for the Falcons with 12 assists in the match. As for the defense, the team took up as a collective group in the digs department and the whole flock of Falcons made up the stats with a team effort.
The second win on the day came over Prairie State as the Falcons reached the 6-6 mark with the victory in straight sets 25-6, 25-11, 25-13. Abby Cowell came out and brought her “A-Game” with 10 kills in the match. Jaidyn Collins put the Falcons in the position to garner the win with her 9 assists along with Danyca Donahue registering 9 assists of her own. The defense did not have to work very hard as the only player with a handful of digs was Bailee Luttrell, recording 5 assists to lead the Falcons.
