A large crowd inspired the ECC Falcons (8-6) to a three set sweep of the Missouri Baptist University JV Spartans by scores of 25-13, 25-20 and 25-19. A different look to the line-up had some of the Falcons playing in new positions. Emma Borcherding filled in for a sick Grace Goedde at the libero position and performed well. Impressive play from the attack was led by Mackenzie Struckhoff with 11 kills. Cameron Hackman who was able to successfully run a swing play to hit cross court kills numerous times against the Spartans collected 9 kills. As the match progressed ECC seemed to have momentum and finished strong in the third set with good blocking and defense.
The Falcons return to the road this weekend as they face NJCAA Region 16 rival Cottey College in Nevada, MO on Friday and District O opponent Northeastern Oklahoma A & M in Miami, OK on Saturday. Both matches are the first of the season with seeding implications for the post season.
