Facility Best Practices

Pre-Game
• All players will have a symptoms and temperature check on a roster verified by a school administrator or athletic trainer prior to competition.
• Recommendation for visiting team’s arrival time. 1 hr. 15 minutes before match/game.
• Recommendation for visiting coach to meet with the host Game Management or Host coach to review any procedures for the day including restrooms, benches, athletic training and post-game interactions
• If applicable, teams will be designated a space for team gear and belongings. See AD.
• Recommend any meeting with officials will be limited to (1) one official and (1) one coach from each team; all must practice physical distancing.
• If possible, rosters should be submitted to the school’s and opposing coaches prior to competition. Exchange of paper rosters or statistics sheets should be limited.
During Game
• Recommend bench areas be extended so players and coaches can adhere to six-foot physical distancing
• It is recommended that coaches and any players not actively on the playing surface wear a facial covering (mask or gaiter)
• Recommend a large area be designated for in between sets/timeouts meetings to allow for six-foot physical distancing.
• Recommend players refrain from high fives, handshakes, or any physical contact not pertaining to aspects of game play.
• Recommend game management staff scoring, directing the scoreboard, and other statistical duties should be separated in distance or have protective plexi-glass barriers
Post-Game
• Recommend no handshake lines. Teams should use another method of post-game sportsmanship in lieu of handshakes such as bowing or saluting
• Recommend teams clear the benches and exit the gymnasium as soon as possible after conclusion of game so game management personnel can begin the disinfection process of the benches.
Locker Rooms
• Use of locker rooms are recommended for restroom use and changing only. No showering or extended time in the locker room for team talks.
Athletic Training
• Please see athletic trainer in playing field/court for pre-game treatment (not training room).
• Water coolers will be provided, but no cups, please bring your own water bottles.
• Symptoms checklist/temps must be provided by all participating teams as per Region 16 guidelines.
Bathroom facilities
• Please feel free to use restrooms based on availability.
Spectators / Designated Areas
• Volleyball
1) Spectators Allowed with Masks
2) Team will be assigned to designated areas to store equipment and eat during tournament play.
3) Players will be asked to wear a mask on the bench.
4) Players have the option to wear a mask during play, but must place mask on when returning to designated bench area.
5) Players on the bench will be asked to socially distance.
6) Bench chairs will be staggered in 6 ft. distances.
• Baseball
1) Spectators will be allowed to attend games. No close social interaction with players before, during or after games in playing areas.
2) Spectators will be encouraged to bring their own chairs to socially distance.
3) Overflow for players to socially distance will be in designated bleacher areas.
• Softball
1) Spectators will be allowed to attend games. No close social interaction with players before, during or after games in playing areas.
2) Spectators will be encouraged to bring their own chairs to socially distance.
3) Overflow for players to socially distance will be in designated bleacher areas.
• Men’s Soccer
1) Teams will be socially distanced on bench.
2) Men’s team will be socially distanced in the bleachers while watching the women’s team.
3) Spectators will be encouraged to socially distance in designated areas along the sideline near the parking area.
4) Teams will be able to see athletic trainer on the field 1 hour prior to start time.
• Women’s Soccer
1) Teams will be socially distanced on bench.
2) Women’s team will be socially distanced in the bleachers while watching the
men’s team.
3) Spectators will be encouraged to socially distance in designated areas along the sideline near the parking area.
4) Teams will be able to see athletic trainer on the field 1 hour prior to start time.
