The ECC Softball Falcons (26-14) played Mineral Area College in two tightly contested games at home and came out winners 4-3 and 9-4 in the conference and region double header. A clutch two RBI single by Maggie Stubenrauch at the bottom of the third inning put the Falcons up 2-1. Anna Arman’s two run home run at the bottom of the fifth elevated ECC to a 4-2 lead. Then a controversial play in the top of the seventh had a contested play at the plate. The Falcons ended up with the win 4-3. Abrea Simmons notched the victory, and Megan Hawkins recorded the save from the circle.

The second game started off slow for the Falcons as they were trailing 4-0 after four innings. Then the Falcon bats erupted as Meredith Blakemore drove in two runs on a double. Avery Little, Ryleigh Long, Genevieve Beacom and Arman all had two hits in the game. ECC was up 6-4 after the fifth inning.

The Falcons used the sixth inning as an exclamation point as Beacom had a two-run homer and Arman a solo homer to put ECC up 8-4.

Addyson Steele went the distance pitching for ECC in the second game striking out seven Mineral Area College batters.
