A trip to Springfield, IL had the Falcons (10-6) facing off against NJCAA #19 Lincoln Land Community College and Southwestern Illinois College in a tri-match. The Falcons were able to secure their 10th win of the season by knocking off Southwestern Illinois College by scores of 25-22, 27-25, 25-18. The Falcons were not so fortunate in the other match falling to Lincoln Land Community College in three straight sets 17-25, 14-25, 13-25.
As the Falcons approach their last matches of the regular season they will look to put more W’s in the win column against St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Frontier Community College before heading to Kansas City next weekend for the NJCAA Region 16 DII Volleyball Tournament where the Falcons have secured the #1 seed and will play the winner of Metropolitan Community College Kansas City and St. Louis Community College.
Coach Mathes-Peters will lead ECC into her 5th region title match in the 11th year of her career as head coach of the Falcons. The Falcons brought home hardware in 2012 and 2013, with wins over Wentworth Military Academy and Northeastern Oklahoma. The 2013 trip included a double win as the Falcons won the region and district to earn a bid to the NJCAA National Tournament.
