A superb performance in the seventh inning with seven runs catapulted the ECC Falcons (5-0) to an 11-5 win over the State Fair Community College Roadrunners. The Falcons were led off on the mound by Joey Reichmuth who pitched three scoreless innings striking out four batters. Starling Beverding came in and pitched well, but there were a few shaky moments on defensive that led to the first two State Fair runs in the fourth inning.
Josh McLintock led the Falcons offensively with three hits and Cory Chostner went 2 for 5 on the day. A solo shot by DeVon Jennings led the scoring off for the Falcons as they were trailing 4-1 after 5 innings. Then the bats went to work in the fifth inning reeling the Roadrunners back in striking distance with a 4-3 scoreline.
The floodgates opened once the Falcons got to the Roadrunner bullpen in the 7th inning. The Falcons put the game out of reach. Chostner collected three RBI on the day and Adam Hanan had two RBI on one hit. Josh Magnaye had a big switch-hit double scoring one run and advancing runners.
Aiden Strickland earned the win, allowing only one hit and one run. He struck out two batters.
