The East Central College Falcons Baseball Team will start their inaugural season with a home field they will be proud to call their own. The confines of the newly renovated ECC Baseball field will be a great perch for future Falcons.

A coordination of fundraising provided by the East Central College Foundation will be used to renovate the field. The baseball team to start their inaugural season off right by playing on a turf infield from day one of their exhibition fall season in 2021. Approval from the East Central College Board of Trustees has set the plan in motion as ATX Turf from Dripping Springs, Texas will be installing the turf in August of 2021 prior to the start of the fall season.

Excitement about the turf comes from all contingents of the East Central College community. The turf infield will also have the possibility to host other events more than just ECC Baseball. The possibility to play softball will be a reality as the infield will have a portable mound that can be removed. A temporary outfield fence will be able to be used and base pegs installed to adjust the bases for collegiate softball specifications. On super soggy days, the men’s and women’s soccer team will also be able to use the turf infield to practice.  During the summer months, revenue from the renting the field for tournaments will be a very strong possibility.

The Falcons will head into competition with the first junior college to have installed a turf infield in the state of Missouri. The closest two junior colleges with infield turf are John A. Logan College in Cartersville, IL and Neosho County CC in Neosho, KS.
