The ECC Softball Falcons (2-0) made a statement in the 2017 home opener as they came to play against the Central Methodist University JV Eagles from beginning to end. The Falcons swept CMU by scores of 11-2 and 14-3. The weather set the tone as it was a balmy 65 degrees in February which is unheard of in Missouri. If the unseasonably warm weather has anything to do with hot bats, then Coach Wallach will take it. The Falcons launched four home runs on the day. The highlights of the first game included Eden Henry pitching five innings, collecting eight strikeouts, and only giving up two runs. Her offensive production was even better as she ended the game with a grand slam to eight run rule the Eagles.
The second game was another hit parade as Megan Micke had two home runs collecting 6 RBI. Jordyn Vrba also had a solo home and two run double leading the Falcons to victory in dominating fashion. Sophomore Makayla Trail recorded her first win of the season from the circle only giving up three runs in five innings and notching three strikeouts.
