Union, MO 3/29/22

A high scoring double header had the ECC Softball Falcons (12-7) splitting a double header with St. Louis Community College by scores of 12-11 in the win and 9-4 in the loss. The first game on the slate was one to remember, as the Falcons struggled defensively making outs and gave St. Louis multiple chances to score early.

After trailing 8-1 in the top of the second, the Falcons found their bats. Madison Sander hit a three-run homer to draw the Archers within reach and made the score 8-5. Mya Hillerman belted a two-run shot over the fence in the in the fourth inning. Nicole Truitt entered the hit parade with an insurance solo homer. Truitt’s solo home ended up being the eventual game winning RBI as the Falcons held on to win the high scoring affair 12-11. Taylor Hanger went the distance pitching for the Falcons and recorded the final out on a strike out with the batter looking to seal the 12-11 victory.

The second game went the way of the Archers, but the Falcons hitting was highlighted by Morgan Green going three for four with an RBI . All the other RBI in the second game came from solo home runs by Ashleigh Damazyn, Emma Weston and Mya Hillermann.  ECC could not get as many base runners on to have the homers equate to more runs like they did in the first game.
