The ECC Volleyball  Falcons (9-11) were able to take down the St. Louis Community College Archers 3-1 in sets. The scoreline had ECC just barely taking sets by a score line of 25-23, 25-23, 21-25 and 25-23. The margin of victory in three winning sets was just by two, but it was enough to give ECC a regular season sweep over STLCC.

The match carried implications for seeding purposes for the upcoming post season NJCAA Region 16 DII tournament being hosted in November on the East Central College campus in Union, MO.

The top offensive performers in the match were Abby Cowell and Peyton Yarbrough. Cowell recorded 10 kills in the match while Yarbrough was right behind her with 9 kills of her own. Jaidyn Collins registered 15 assists and Brooke Leesmann collected 8 assists.

As the match utilized almost each possible point in a four set lengthy contest, the Falcons had to come up big on defense. Cowell led the team with 12 digs and Taylor Jones had 11 digs playing in the libero position. ECC has had years of luck beating STLCC, but a much improved Archers team will be a formidable foe in the post season.

Next up of for the Falcons is Metropolitan Community College Kansas City at home on Friday, Oct. 11 at 6:00PM.
