The East Central College men’s soccer team finally was able to step on to the pitch. Their first two games were cancelled due to heat and lightening. The weather didn’t hamper a 3-0 throttling of the Meridian Community College Eagles at home. It was 0-0 at half with the Falcons controlling most of the play and most of the chances on net. ECC opened the second half quickly scoring two goals in two minutes, Ray Cloud in the 50th minute and Tyler Finder in the 51st minute.

Cloud’s game winner came on a repossession in Meridan’s backfield as the ECC pressure on the back four created the turnover to lead to a goal buried into the back of the net by Cloud. Finder found the back of the net twice scoring on an assist from Shaun Speirs on the first and then connecting again with the final goal of the match in the 74th minute.

The ECC defense played well as Michael Holliday, Brady Blum, Juel Denommee, Koen Gemeri held a tight backline. Iggy Padilla recorded his first college shutout of his career and only faced a few shots, but he managed the game well.
