Filkins Shatters 15-Year-Old ECC Volleyball Record
Union, Mo. – East Central College sophomore Lexi Filkins, a graduate of Lutheran South High School, made history on the court last night. Filkins broke the college’s all-time record for digs, surpassing a mark that had stood for 15 years.
The previous record of 870 digs was set over a decade ago, but Filkins eclipsed that total and now stands at 882 digs — and counting — as the Falcons head into postseason play.
“Lexi has been an anchor for our defense all season,” said ECC Head Coach Mathes-Peters. “Her consistency, hustle, and leadership make her a difference-maker every time she steps on the floor.”
The milestone adds another highlight to a standout season for Filkins, who has been instrumental in the team’s success. Her record-breaking performance comes at a crucial time, as East Central prepares for the Region 16 Tournament, which begins Friday at 6 p.m. when the Falcons face St. Louis Community College (STLCC).
Fans can catch Filkins and the Falcons in action as they look to continue their postseason run and add to what has already been a memorable year.
