The ECC Softball Falcons were able to put the bats to work in the first double header of the season by sweeping the Culver Stockton College JV Wildcats 9-1 and 15-0. ECC amassed 11 hits in the first contest with Loren Thurman knocking in two runs on a single. Avery Little, Anna Arman and Genevieve Beacom also collected two hits in the first game. Abrea Simmons earned the win pitching for the Falcons and striking out four batters.

The second game was a big one for Avery Little as she went three for three with two RBI. Beacom went two for three with a huge triple and two RBI. Arman also smashed a triple of her own. Ryleigh Long, Megan Hawkins and Maggie Stubenrauch all had hits and drove in runs. Addyson Steele earned the win for the Falcons only giving up three hits and she struck out five batters.

A key double play in the third inning had Beacom reach up to knab a lined shot over her head for one out and turn with one step to tag first and record the second out. As the Falcons progress through the season, the competition will increase. Coach Young was excited to get the season started and the smiles on the players’ faces will hopefully continue as the busy week continues with games against William Woods JV, Kaskaskia and St. Charles.
