ECC Softball (20-13-1) was able to get a split in a double header against Culver -Stockton JV at home. The Falcons won their first game of the double header by a score of 4-2. The second didn’t fair as well for the Falcons as they were knocked off 7-2. The first game had Haley Schulte pitching and she recorded 11 strikeouts in the victory for ECC. At the plate, Maddie Greco returned to form and went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Nikki Abbott’s bat was also heating up as she went 2 for 3 with a double.
The Falcons were not so fortunate in the second frame, as there were only a few bright spots. Kristyn England went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Lilly Prichard also connected with the ball as she collected two hits: one single and one double.
The end of the season is near as ECC only has two remaining double headers on the schedule. The Falcons are hoping to elevate their game heading into the post season. Their match-up next week against St. Louis Community College will set up the seedings for the region tournament. The Falcons are looking to break STLCC’s hold on the region as they will be facing each other in the post season vying for the 2021 NJCAA Region 16 DII Softball Championship being held in Union, MO May 7 & 8.
