The ECC Baseball Falcons (32-18) were able to clinch the first seed in the NJCAA Region 16 DII tournament with a double header split with the Moberly Area Community College Greyhounds. ECC fell short in the first game 5-4 but put the hammer down and sent four home runs over the fence in the second game to win 15-4.

The second game was started with a bang as the Falcons amassed a 9-0 lead with home runs by Josh McLintock, Matis Crouwel and Jackson Kirn. McClintock’s shot was a two-run blast, while Kirn’s shot over the center field fence was a three-run bomb.

Cory Chostner extended the lead to 11-0 with a two-run double in the second inning. Jose Alfonso joined the hit parade in the third inning elevating the Falcons to a 12-0 thrashing. Owen Smith sent his shot out the park in the top of the fourth inning.

The Falcons got contributions from a number of pitchers on the mound. Adam DeBoer got the start and earned win going four innings, striking out two batters and not giving up any walks. Landon Cann and Keagon Lawlor came into the game in relief.

The first game had ECC out hitting the Greyhounds, but a tough first inning down 5-2 was all it took for Moberly Area to take the first game. Kirn, McClintock, Alfonso and Landen Roberts all had two hits on the day, but it just was not enough to squeak out the first win.
