East Central College Baseball (22-22-1) finished the regular season with a double header sweep over North Arkansas College to reach the .500 plateau. The Falcons convincingly won 15-8 and 14-4 over the Pioneers to end the regular season on a high note heading into the 2025 NJCAA Region 16 DII Tournament.
A big day at the plate in the first game for Samuele Bruno, had the sophomore transfer drive in six runs. Bruno smashed a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning and added two more RBIs later in the game. Cody Kantz added a homer to keep the line moving. Then it was Kannon Hibbs’ turn as he smashed a three-run bomb to left field. Jeff Lentz also added a two run RBI single.
Ben Peth got the start for the Falcons going two innings and Jack Meyer earned the win in relief for the Falcons. Zach Taylor and Logan Holmes also came into the game in relief.
The second game had Henry Kufa leading the charge at the plate as he amassed four hits in four at bats. He was one hit away from the cycle, as he had a homer, double and two singles.
Jack Holubowski opened the scoring for the Falcons with a sacrifice fly scoring the first run in the first inning. Down 4-1 after the first, the Falcons mounted a comeback with hits by Adam Hanan and Sam Sailors driving in runs. Then the hits started coming in bunches, Saul Valdez, Kantz and Kufa started to crush the ball. Kufa stole three bases in the game.
Ayden Gates earned the win for the Falcons pitching one inning. Jiter Montilla got the stats and Keagon Lawlor, Donte Frantz, Brock Hendrix, and Will Mentz collectively saw time on the mound tuning up for the region tournament.
