The East Central College Falcons (2-6) were able to get their first two wins of the season over the Three Rivers Community College Raiders by scores of 4-3 and 9-8. The Falcons were led in the first game with pitching from Shane Kearbey, who went four and two thirds innings striking out seven batters. Brayden Noland came into the game in relief and recorded the win.
ECC was able to get the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Luciano Terrili had an RBI single. Error free baseball led to a well played game as the ECC bats came alive and each of the following players added to the 4-3 win in the hit parade: Cameron Leach, DeVon Jennings, Justin Rogers, Sam Sisk, Seth Shannon, Nathan Turner and Mario Colombo.
Zach Stenger came in for two-thirds of an inning to get the save in game one, but he wasn’t finished there.
The second game was a tale of big innings. ECC jumped out in the first inning 4-0 on a total 10 hits accumulated in the game. Seth Shannon, Nathan Turner and Justin Rogers had multiple hits in the second game. Shannon went 3 for 4. Pitching was rocky and ECC found themselves trailing 7-4 after a massive inning by the Raiders. Levi Betts came into the game to keep the Raiders in check and threw well striking out three batters and eventually earning the win. The Falcons chipped away adding to the lead of 9-7 going into the top of the seventh.
Stenger wasn’t finished as he collected his second collegiate save in the same day, shutting the door for the last out with a wicked curve ball to seal the victory for ECC.
