The ECC Men’s Soccer Falcons (3-5-1) took down NJCAA #13 ranked Mineral Area 3-2 in a thriller of a game at home on Saturday, October 5.  ECC took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Ray Cloud and Brady Blum. Both goals were assisted by Dujon Brown who has a stellar performance on the left side of the pitch. Mineral Area cut the lead to 2-1 right before halftime. Ignacio Padilla stood strong in the nets recording five saves on the day.

As Mineral Area College was seeking to get back into the game there was a lot of pressure applied in the Falcons’ defensive third of the pitch by the Cardinals. Mineral Area equalized the match with about 7 minutes remaining in regulation. Then it was the speed of Tyler Finder, who found a way to get loose with the ball in the closing seconds of the game, going one on one with the keeper, he pushed it around the goalie who was forced to take him down in the box. Jules Denommée stepped up and buried the penalty kick to give ECC a 3-2 victory with less than a minute remaining.

The Falcons will face MCCAC conference rival Jefferson College this Wednesday, Oct. 9 at home with a change in start time to 4:00PM. The Falcons are looking to claw their way back into the conference standings with another victory. As ECC hosts their remaining four matches in Union, MO, which should give the Falcons momentum heading into the post-season playoffs.
