Coach Brad Wallach was able to ink a great recruiting class for the upcoming year for the East Central College Softball Falcons. Chelsea Bax (Fatima), Alex Adelsberger (Timberland), Brittany Miller (Lindbergh), Abby Job, (Warrenton), Megan Heimbaugh (Rolla)and Michelle Bryant (Crocker)signed letters of intent to play for the Falcons.

FALCONS DOMINATE DYERSBURG STATE

Sam Kleekamp #25Sam Kleekamp #25The East Central College Softball Falcons (2-2) demolished Dyersburg State, TN in a double header by scores of 10-2 and 18-3. Kasilda Miller and Kayla Haley earned the first two victories of the season from the circle as they both recorded tremendous pitching performances. At the plate, the Falcons belted out four home runs on the day. Jamie Wheeler and Samantha Kleekamp both hit three run shots in the second game to extend the lead as the Falcons dominated Dyersburg offensively.

Team Greets Jessica Eichholz After Home RunTeam Greets Jessica Eichholz After Home RunA collection of honors were handed out this past week and the Softball Falcons received numerous awards from NJCAA Region 16 and the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference. Jessica Eichholz led the way being named 1st Team All-Region and 1st Team All-Conference. Jessica was also named ECC Scholar Athlete for the 2009-2010 academic year. Jill Griffin along with Jessica Eichholz will be nominated as NJCAA Academic All-Americans at the end of the semester.

SAMANTHA KLEEKAMP HITS THREE HOME RUNS IN TWO ECC VICTORIES

The East Central College Falcons (17-16) on the season have gone above .500 for the first time with two wins over the McKendree JV Bearcats. At the plate, Samantha Kleekamp had her best day of the year hitting three home runs to catapult the Falcons to victories in each of the two games. Sam went 5 for 7 on the day with 3 home runs and 4 RBI’s. Coach Wallach was both excited and worrisome as Sam also sprained her ankle at the end of the second game.

Kasilda MillerKasilda MillerThe battle of birds of prey proved the Falcons to be better than the Eagles, as East Central (15-16) defeated Central Methodist JV 1-0 and 9-1 in a double header. East Central was shutout until the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game, when Jill Griffin reached third on two consecutive errors by Central Methodist. Kasilda Miller then delivered the winning run by hitting a single up the middle of the infield to bring Jill Griffin home. Jessica Eichholz pitched the shutout for the Falcons.

JILL GRIFFIN HITS GRAND SLAMJILL GRIFFIN HITS GRAND SLAMEast Central (13-13) has reached the .500 plateau for the first time this season with two wins over Missouri Valley JV by scores of 14-6 and 10-2. The Falcons have extended their winning streak to eight in a row. A tremendous grand slam shot to dead center field by Jill Griffin ended the first game as the Falcons topped Missouri Valley 14-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

EAST CENTRAL TAKES TWO OVER MERAMEC

Jessica EichholzJessica EichholzThe Falcons (11-13) have extended their win streak to six games in a row. Coach Brad Wallach has the team flying high with a solid batting line-up. East Central turned up the offensive power and belted four home runs on the day and downed Meramec 14-5 and 8-7.

Falcons Find Formula for Victory over Fury

The Falcons found a formula for victory in a sweep of a double header against the Florissant Valley Fury by scores of 8-2 and 13-0. A winning streak of four games in a row has helped boost overall team confidence. East Central amassed 35 hits in two games with freshman Samantha Kleekamp going 2 for 2 in the second game with a home run and 4 RBI’s. The season is in full swing and the Falcons have a full schedule until the NJCAA Region XVI Tournament.
