The Falcons traveled to the Johnson County Community College to play with the best teams in the NJCAA to start the season. Each team in the tournament has made the annual trip to the NJCAA National Tournament at the end of the season over the past few years. Competing against the NJCAA ranked #1, #3, #4 and #5 proved to be a tough task, but the volleyball team was ready. Knocking off number #5 Des Moines Area College in five games turned out to be the highlight of the weekend. East Central was able to go the distance with #5 Parkland and just came up short in the fifth game of the match.
Facing #4 Johnson County and #1 Cowley College, East Central played well and was able to win individual games, but not the matches. Coach Brad Bruns knows the work in the regular season play top level talent will pay off in a higher level performance at the end of the year in the NJCAA Tournament.
