Hilary Trevino Signing
The Hermann pipeline to the East Central volleyball program continues with the addition of 5-10 outside hitter Hilary Trevino. She will be the fifth Hermann product to play for East Central since the school brought back volleyball in 2007. Two, Erica LaBoube and Kasey Kirchhofer, have been All-Americans.
“I like a bunch of the players on the team,” Trevino said. “They seem really, really nice. Also, it’s really close to home, so I won’t be too far away from my parents. And I have family down there, too. So I won’t be away from the whole atmosphere of being at home. And, Brad seems like a really good coach. He helped my cousin, Jamie (Baumstark), a lot. She said he will make me a much better player than I am now. I’m really looking forward to it. I’m going to work really hard.”
Hilary was a member of The Missourian All-Area first team. She made the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association Class 2 All-State second team and All-State Tournament team. She was on the MHSVCA All-South/South Central Region Class 2 second team and was a unanimous first team choice in the Four Rivers Conference.Trevino posted 204 kills, 255 digs, 69 service aces and 29 total blocks (21 solo blocks) and she did it all with a torn ACL, which since has been surgically repaired.
“We’re really excited to have her and we can’t wait to get her on the court and start working with her,” said East Central Head Coach Brad Bruns. “I’m pretty confident. I know she’s going to produce. We need someone to take charge as a freshman and contribute to the offense and make us a stronger team on the outside. I think she’s going to come back even stronger after her rehab and she’s got some great years of volleyball ahead of her.” Due to her recovery time, Trevino was not able to play club volleyball this winter. Hilary would like to become a high school history teacher beyond her college days.
