Lauren Baumstark SigningComfortable at either outside hitter or right side hitter, Lauren Baumstark comes to East Central from the traditionally strong St. Francis Borgia Regional High School team."Lauren comes in as a good outside hitter, whether it is outside or right side,” East Central Head Coach Brad Bruns said.
"I’m excited to be with everyone,” Baumstark said. “They all seem like a good group of girls. I think us newcomers will fit in well. I’m just going to do whatever role the coaches want me to play. That seems like a good plan to me.”
Baumstark, 5-9, registered 86 kills, 35 total blocks, (six solo and 29 assists) and 62 digs while playing front row for the Lady Knights last fall. She helped Borgia reach the MSHSAA Class 3 state quarterfinals. She continued her volleyball season by playing for one of the Rockwood Thunder U18 teams.
“Lauren can come in and challenge any of our returners for playing time,” said Bruns. “We want that challenge. We want anybody who comes into our program to challenge for a spot in the lineup. Any time we get a player from Borgia, you can expect good talent.”
Baumstark cited East Central's nursing program as her reason for choosing the school.
“It’s close to home and I’ve been looking there for a long time because it’s cheaper,” Lauren said. “And they have a good nursing program. That’s what I want to go into.”
