The 6-0 middle-right side hitter from Cape Girardeau was the first signing for the East Central College 2010 recruiting class.Stewart is a two-time Missouri High School Coaches Association All-State selection (2008, 2009) and plays club volleyball for Pursuit of Jackson, Mo.
“I’m definitely excited,” Stewart said. “East Central has a pretty good record.”Stewart learned about East Central while attending a recruiting seminar and talking with Head Coach Brad Bruns and former All-American middle hitter Erica LaBoube.Stewart likes the interaction between players and the coaches at East Central.“I met some of the girls and saw how they interacted with the coach," Stewart said. "I realized it was a good program and one I wanted to play for.”
Bruns is thrilled to have Stewart joining the team in 2010.
“I’m really excited that Charis will be starting her college career at ECC next fall,” Bruns said. “She has a lot of talent and a ton of potential. She definitively has the right personality for our team. She is highly competitive and she has one heck of a work ethic. She is going to mesh well with our returning players since she has already bonded with several of the girls. She’ll do great things here at ECC!”
