ECC Students Donate to Food Pantry

Food DonationFor the third consecutive year the physical education and athletic departments at East Central College sponsored a canned food drive to benefit the Union Food Pantry. This year more than 120 students in fitness classes contributed over 1000 personal hygiene and non-perishable food items. All three of the captains on the men’s soccer team Nickardo Blake, Luis Percovich and Tim Findall, along with women’s softball captain Lisa Stout, helped pack and transport the items to the food pantry. The student athletes were able to see firsthand how the donations benefit those less fortunate in the community. Jane Brennan, a volunteer with the Union Food Pantry, explained to the athletes how families use their services and how the number of families has grown in the past year.
