FALCONS WIN REGION/DISTRICT TITLE

2008 REGION XVI/ DISTRICT O CHAMPIONSEast Central College claimed the first NJCAA Women's Volleyball Region 16/District O Title in school history on Saturday at STLCC-Florissant Valley. The Falcons by flew past Meramec in three games in the semi-final match (25-20,25-16,25-12). The championship match against MCC-Longview went down to the wire as ECC dropped the first two games and came back to win three straight (21-25,20-25,25-17,27-25,16-14). The fifth game was hard fought and decided by a 16-14 score. Celebration ensued as the Falcons hoisted the championship plaque and earned a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament at Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconson Dells November 20-22, 2008. Alyssa Speckhals, Erica LaBoube and Jamie Murray were named to the Region XVI 1st Team at the tournament and Brad Bruns was named Region/District Coach of the Year.
