Tiffany Borgerding, ECC sophomore outside hitter, was selected as a 2nd Team All-American. Tiffany finished an amazing career at ECC which included the following honors on top of being named an NJCAA All-American: 2010 and 2011 MCCAC Conference – 1st Team, 2010 and 2011 NJCAA Region XVI - 1st Team, 2010 Academic All-Region and Academic All-Conference. Tiffany was also named to five All-Tournament teams throughout her two year career on the court as a Falcon. Another special honor came as she was named the 2011 NJCAA DII Volleyball Player of the Week on October 19, 2011.
Tiffany has been a leader all over the court for the Falcons this past season. She played numerous positions to ensure team success. Primarily as a right-side hitter, Tiffany has been nicknamed the “The Hammer” and has set the school record for kills with 494 in a season along with the career record for kills with 916. She surpasses former ECC All-American Erica LaBoube’s record from 2007-08. Tiffany has one of the quickest releases and hardest hits of any outside hitter in the junior college game today.
The story goes a little further as Tiffany’s mother Karla (Swoboda) Borgerding was a 1983 NJCAA All-American for the East Central College Rebels under Coach Earlaine Sandoval. This is the first mother/daughter NJCAA All-American duo in East Central College history. Tiffany plans to further her education studying radiology and this past season will likely have been her last year of intercollegiate volleyball.
