FALCONS CONQUER VIKINGS FOR DOUBLE HEADER SWEEP

Karissa HoffmanKarissa HoffmanThe Falcons completed a double header sweep by conquering the Missouri Valley JV Vikings with an impressive score line of 2-0 and 7-0. The first game was low scoring until the 3rd inning as the Falcons put the only two runs on the board as Kayla, Kelly, Arlena Armstrong and Anna Feeler connected on consecutive hits. Shelby Friend pitched a complete game shutout to get her 15th win of the season.

FALCONS POUNCE ON COUGARS TO SWEEP DOUBLE HEADER

Dayla GruenlohDayla GruenlohThe Falcons (25-20) pounced on the St. Charles Cougars sweeping a double header by scores of 5-1 and 13-4. A big boost from the likely suspects hitting well by adding run support for the pitchers has put W’s in the win column. Coach Wallach is hoping to have the end of the season success carry over to the post-season. In the first game, Kayla Kelly led the team in RBI with two as Anna Feeler and Dayla Gruenloh added one RBI each to pace the Falcons to victory.

FALCONS WIN THREE OF FOUR OVER WEEKEND

EDEN HENRY PITCHING FOR THE FALCONSEDEN HENRY PITCHING FOR THE FALCONSA successful weekend was capped off with a big win against Southwestern Illinois College. The Falcons won 3 out of their 4 games beating Culver Stockton JV Wildcats twice and splitting a double header with the SWIC Blue Storm. ECC’s offensive charge in the CSU double header was led by Anna Feeler who collected 5 RBI on 6 hits in the matchup. Eden Henry picked up the win pitching 7.2 innings as the Falcons took the game 8-7 in extra innings.

Shelby Friend Breaks ECC Career Home Run RecordShelby Friend Breaks ECC Career Home Run RecordAs the regular season winds down, the Falcons have been turning up the offensive heat. ECC, now 20-17, split a double header with Region 16 rival Mineral Area College losing the first game 6-5 and winning the second game 8-3. Shelby Friend launched three home runs in the double header to elevate her status in the ECC record books as the all-time home run leader. Friend rocketed one over the fence in the first game to set the new record at 24 total career home runs.

FALCONS WIN ONE IN TIGHTLY CONTESTED DOUBLE HEADER WITH THREE RIVERS

Karissa HoffmanKarissa HoffmanA tightly contested double header with Three Rivers Community College had the Falcons winning the second game 3-1, but falling short by a one run margin the first game 2-1. The Falcons could only register two hits in the first game, but the second game the bats got hot and ECC registered nine hits. Shelby Friend led the team with three hits, and Karissa Hoffman and Monica Kelley both had two hits each. Anna Feeler and Monica Kelley drove in runs during the second game elevating ECC to the 3-1 win.

ECC AND LCCC END UP SPLITTING DOUBLE HEADER

Arlena ArmstrongArlena ArmstrongA reversal of fortune occurred in a double header for the Falcons (18-15) against the Lewis & Clark Trailblazers. ECC was able to put up three runs early on RBI hits from Arlena Armstrong, Kayla Kelly and Shelby Friend. This score line had the opposition staring at a three run deficit and the Trailblazers could only muster one run in the contest. Friend notched her 12th victory of the season pitching for the Falcons in the 3-1 victory.

FALCONS TAKE ONE AGAINST CENTRAL METHODIST JV

Shelby FriendShelby FriendA Falcon victory over Central Methodist JV has ECC at 17-14 for the season and the biggest stretch of games lying ahead. The Falcons took the first contest from the Eagles 5-1, but fell in the second 6-0. Shelby Friend led ECC in the first game to the victory earning her 10th win of the season. Friend also hit her 10th home run of the season. Anna Feeler and Arlena Armstrong both went 2 for 4 on the day.

FALCONS KNOCK COMETS DOWN

The Falcons improved to 15-10 on the year with a double header sweep of Cottey College with 18-5 and 21-0 scores. The Falcons had their bats back on track and Anna Feeler led the team in the hits and RBI department. Feeler had two home runs in the second game with eight runs batted in. In the first game, she had three runs batted in for a total of eleven on the day. Arlena Armstrong, Shelby Friend, Monica Kelley, Lizzie Swindell and Dayla Gruenloh all had more than three hits on the day. Friend recorded the win in the first game and Makala Trail nailed down the victory in the second game.

The Falcons flew over the Cardinals in the first game 11-3 led by a Lizzie Swindell two-run homer and the pitching of Shelby Friend. Other top offensive performers included multiple hits by Kayla Kelly, Lilli Mantle and Eden Henry.
