Tiffany Borgerding, ECC sophomore outside hitter, was selected as a 2nd Team All-American.

Tiffany BorgerdingTiffany BorgerdingThe NJCAA #16 East Central College Volleyball Falcons (25-12) beat the NJCAA #3 ranked team Parkland Cobras in straight sets 25-16, 25-23, 26-24 and won the Illinois Central Tournament. ECC picked up another win against Lakeland 25-20, 20-25, 28-26, 25-22 and went the distance of five sets, but dropped one to Illinois Central 25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 21-25, 7-15. A stellar week was capped off with Tiffany Borgerding being named NJCAA DII Player of the Week.

Lauren DudgeonLauren DudgeonThe East Central College Falcons, ranked nationally #15, have improved to 23-10 on the season as they downed Southwestern Illinois College in straight sets 25-13, 25-18, 25-10. The Falcons had good offensive production from Laura Dudegon with a .417 attacking percentage and 6 kills. Another typical offensive performance was registered by Tiffany Borgerding as she added 12 kills and Sarah Schwentker recorded 10 kills to finish off the Blue Storm.

Katie EgartKatie EgartThe Falcons, ranked #17 in the latest NJCAA poll, now 18-9 on the season knocked off #12 Johnson County and Butler County in the East Central College Invitational Tournament held in Union, MO. ECC beat Johnson County by scores of 25-16, 27-25, 22-25, 20-25, 15-12 and Butler County 25-16, 26-24, 25-19. ECC dropped games to # 10 Kishwaukee College and #11 Illinois Central College. Maddie Kelley and Tiffany Borderding were named to the ECC All-Tournament team.

Tifffany Borgerding photo by Bill BattleTifffany Borgerding photo by Bill BattleThe NJCAA #17 East Central College Falcons (16-6) took down Culver-Stockton JV 25-17, 25-12, 25-19 and Indian Hills C.C. 25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-13 in Canton, Missouri during a tri-match. The Falcons looked good offensively. ECC has been on tear since dropping a match against Iowa Lakes over the weekend. A trip to NJCAA Div. 1 Ranked #17 MSU-West Plains will have East Central playing their 8th match in 5 days.

FALCONS WIN FOUR MATCHES

The NJCAA #15 East Central College Falcons 14-6 traveled to Kansas and the western side of Missouri over the weekend to play two separate tournaments. The first night had ECC facing Coffeyville Kansas C.C. and Iowa Lakes in the Johnson County Invitational. ECC defeated Coffeyville 23-25, 21-25, 25-11, 25-16, 15-13 and lost to NJCAA #14 Iowa Lakes 20-25, 16-25, 23-25. The next day was the NJCAA Region XVI/District O pre-seeding tournament. ECC was able to take three matches to earn the #1 seed at the end of the year tournament.

EAST CENTRAL KNOCKS OFF NJCAA #1 COWLEY COUNTY

The Falcons, now 10-4 on the season, were able to upset the NJCAA #1 ranked team for the second time this season when they invoked revenge upon the Cowley Community College Tigers winning by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 10-25, 25-22. East Central College also beat Rock Valley 25-8, 25-21, 25-19 in the Kishwaukee Invitational Tournament. The second day of the tournament wasn’t as kind to the Falcons as they dropped to matches to NJCAA #6 Johnson County 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25 and NJCAA #14 Kishwaukee 20-25, 13-25, 14-25.

FALCONS GO 4-0 AT LINDENWOOD TOURNAMENT

Sarah SchwentkerSarah SchwentkerThe Falcons Volleyball Team (7-2) was able to go 4-0 over the weekend at the Lindenwood University Junior College Invitational Tournament. East Central College topped NJCAA #15 Lincoln Land (25-18, 25-13, 25-16), NJCAA # 20 Muskegon (17-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20), John A. Logan (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) and Lindenwood JV (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) during the tournament. Coach Mathes- Peters was pleased with team play as she had to tinker with different line-ups to keep the Falcons running on all cylinders.

EAST CENTRAL AVENGES EARLY SEASON LOSSES WITH TWO WINS OVER LINDENWOOD JV

JOYCE WITH THE KILLThe Falcons, currently ranked #14 in the NJCAA DII Volleyball Poll, avenged early season defeats by the two Lindenwood University JV teams by posting two more victories to elevate to 19-5 on the season. East Central was able to beat the Lindenwood JV Gold team in convincing fashion 25-19, 25-20, 25-15, but had to go the distance in the second match with the LU JV Black squad by scores 10-25, 25-12, 25-18, 23-5 and 15-8.
