FALCONS FINISH SEASON

Jill Griffin at the PlateJill Griffin at the PlateThe East Central College Falcons (22-26) ended the season with improved play from a limited roster working with multiple injuries. Tabetha Korman came on strong the last week of the season hitting three home runs including a solo home run to start the scoring in a 5-2 win over Forest Park in the Region 16 Tournament. The Falcons took a commanding 5-0 lead against the Highlanders and finished the game off with a strong pitching performance by Sam Juergens.

FALCONS COME BACK AGAINST COTTEY

Tabetha KormanTabetha KormanThe Falcons (21-25)came back to beat Cottey 8-7 in a tightly contested Region 16 Tournament game to keep their season alive. After dropping the first game against Forest Park, the Falcons found themselves facing another deficit and desperately needed a comeback. Tabatha Korman started the rally with a solo home run and ended the game with a two run single to send ECC to the next round of the tournament.

Sam JuergensSam JuergensThe East Central College Falcons won their 20th game of the season by sweeping their double header over Central Methodist JV by scores of 5-3 and 10-2. A spectacular pitching performance in two games by Sam Juergens led ECC to a pair of victories. Offensively, Amy Baumhoer had a three run homer to propel the Falcons to victory in the first game. Lisa Stout, Amber Muir and Stephanie Dukes performed well at the plate and added RBIs in the second game.

Tabetha Korman Hits Home RunTabetha Korman Hits Home RunThe Falcons, now (16-23) on the season, are looking to make a run into the Region XVI tournament starting next week at East Central College. In front of a record crowd of over 100 people, ECC won game two of a double header yesterday against Mineral Area College, who is ranked at the top of Region 16 DII. The first game ended in an 8-0 loss, but the Falcons reversed their fortune and returned the favor with a 10-2 win in the second game.

DACEY BATTINGDACEY BATTINGThe Falcons are flying high again with a double header sweep over St. Charles Community College by scores of 2-1 and 5-1. Coach Brad Wallach stated, “The team is playing the best they have all year. I am excited about the run to the regional tournament over the next two weeks.” Jill Griffin knocked out her sixth home run of the season. Both Jill and Dacey Hassey are in the top 30 in the NJCAA with over 35 RBIs on the season. Dacey Hassey leads the team in batting percentage at .536 and is #10 in the NJCAA.

ECC BLASTS FOREST PARK

Jill GriffinJill GriffinThe Falcons, now 12-16 on the season, continued their winning streak by beating Forest Park 10-3 and 14-6 in a double header. Jill Griffin had ten RBI’s on the day to lead East Central to a season best fourth win in a row. A grand slam by Jill Griffin was the highlight of the day. She also had a two run double, a two run single and two other RBI’s from singles. Dacey Hassey added to her home run total with a three run shot of her own.

FALCONS DEFEAT DYERSBURG STATE

Lisa StoutLisa StoutThe East Central College Falcons (10-16) were victorious in both games of a double header during a spring break trip to Dyersburg State in Tennessee. The Falcons won the games by scores of 4-3 and 10-4. Lisa Stout led the team from the plate going 5 for 9 on the day. Jill Griffin, Kelsey Roehrig and Dacey Hassey added to the totals by collecting three hits each in the double header. From a defensive standpoint, Elizabeth McKinney and Sarah Benton had two of their best starts of the year pitching.
