Student Athlete Spotlight

Jill Griffin will be nominated as an NJCAA Academic All-American this summer to cap off her two years at East Central College as a member of the Falcon’s Softball Team. During her freshman year in 2009, she had 8 home runs and 37 RBIs and was named 2nd Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-Conference. This year she didn’t hit as many home runs, but batted .455 and led the team with 66 hits and scored 46 runs. She was a valuable piece to the offensive and defensive sides of the team. Jill was named 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-Conference for 2010.

Jill will be attending Southeast Missouri State next year to major in elementary education.

Luis “Lucho” Percovich will also be nominated as an NJCAA Academic All-American this summer. Another leader in the classroom and on the playing field, Lucho was named 2nd Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Region during his freshman and sophomores years at East Central for the men’s soccer team. He was a captain for the 2009 Falcons’ soccer squad.

Lucho will be attending William Woods University on a soccer and academic scholarship with plans to major in psychology.
