ECC TOPS SHAWNEE IN CONFERENCE MATCH

Hilary TrevinoHilary TrevinoThe Falcons squared off for the first time against the Shawnee Community College Saints in a Midwest Community College Athletic Conference match. The Saints traveled from Ulin, IL to a packed gymnasium at East Central to come up short against a powerful, offensive display from the Falcons by scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 15-3. Hilary Trevino and Tiffany Borgerding both recorded 13 kills each in an excellent offensive output.

FALCONS KNOCK OFF NJCAA #5 DES MOINES AREA COLLEGE

The Falcons traveled to the Johnson County Community College to play with the best teams in the NJCAA to start the season. Each team in the tournament has made the annual trip to the NJCAA National Tournament at the end of the season over the past few years. Competing against the NJCAA ranked #1, #3, #4 and #5 proved to be a tough task, but the volleyball team was ready. Knocking off number #5 Des Moines Area College in five games turned out to be the highlight of the weekend.

FALCONS TOP PRAIRIE STATE FOR FIRST WIN OF 2010 SEASON

Jason Heywood #14Jason Heywood #14The East Central College Falcons started the new NJCAA season in Chicago, Illinois facing tough opponents in Prairie State and South Suburban. The Falcons came up victorious in their first game with a 2-0 win against Prairie State. Cody Beck and Edwin Meza found the net for East Central College in the win. Brian Monge and Dillon Huber recorded the assists on the goals. Tyler Subke (Washington High School) came up big in the nets to chalk up his first shutout of the season.
