FALCONS CLIP EAGLES IN THREE STRAIGHT SETS

Madeleine HalfordMadeleine HalfordThe Falcons’ offense was in full synchronization as the team clipped the wings of the Central Methodist JV Eagles by a scores 25-12, 25-14 and 25-15. Coach Mathes-Peters was pleased with the starting line-up’s performance as ECC took command of the match from start to finish. A bright spot for the Falcons included a number of kills and blocks from ECC middle hitter, Madeleine Halford.

ECC BATTLES TO 3-3 TIE WITH HEARTLAND HAWKS

Niall BurkeNiall BurkeThe Falcons got started under extreme heat and extreme pressure as they took on the Heartland Hawks in the season opener. After scoring first, the Falcons found themselves trailing 3-1 at halftime. Matt Hampton netted the first goal of the year for ECC as he followed in a rebound off a saved penalty kick. The second half favored East Central as play improved. Luis Hernandez hit a rocket free kick to draw the score closer at 3-2.

EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WINS MCCAC ACADEMIC AWARD FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT YEAR

The East Central College Athletic Department wins the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference Academic Award for the fifth consecutive year with a 2.97 overall GPA. The streak of five years 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 marks another banner year for the student athletes at East Central College. It is a testament to the importance the entire college and athletic department places on student athlete academic achievement.
