FALCONS FINISH RUNNERS-UP IN REGION 16

East Central College (22-21) fought to the bitter end to keep their season alive in the semi-final of the Region 16/District O Final against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. The Falcons came back after being down twice and took the match to a fifth set, but came up short by a score line of 21-25,25-23,20-25,25-16,11-15. Coach Lisa Mathes-Peters felt the team was playing well, but just fell short despite one the best team efforts of the season. The Falcons finished as Region 16 runners-up behind eventual champion MCC-Longview.

Dylan CassidyDylan CassidyThe Falcons turnaround season almost followed Coach Barclay’s game plan down to the last seconds of the season. East Central College Soccer (11-8-1) traveled to MCC-Blue River to face the Trailblazers in the NJCAA Region 16 championship match. ECC played an almost flawless bend, but don’t break defense keeping the score tied 0-0 at halftime. The Trailblazers found the back of the net first on a breakaway goal that hit the post and went in the net.

ECC VOLLEYBALL FINISHES REGULAR SEASON WITH 22-20 RECORD

East Central finishes the 2014 regular season with a 22-20 record by taking down Lindenwood University-Belleville JV in straight sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-18. A tough tri-match had ECC playing down to the wire in the other match and just coming up short against Southwestern Illinois College in five sets by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 19-25, 13-15. The Falcons were led offensively on the day by Maddie Halford who tallied 16 kills in both matches. Taylor Davis also had a productive day by knocking down 16 kills again SWIC and 7 against Lindenwood-Belleville.
